Chondroitin for dogs
Chondroitin is a naturally occurring substance in dogs and like glucosamine is concentrated most in the cartilage. It forms part of the main structure of cartilage and has an anti-inflammatory effect as well as preventing destructive enzymes from breaking down joint tissue.
Chondroitin is particularly important in ageing or damaged cartilage which may not be replaced easily by the affected dog.
Chondroitin sulphate is normally used to treat ageing and damaged cartilage and degenerative joint disease (hip and elbow dysplasia).
Chondroitin supplies nutrients to the cartilage and stimulates growth whilst increasing the movement of white blood cells and resistance to viral and bacterial infection. Chondroitin is often given to dogs to aid recuperation from an illness or surgery.
Barker and Wags LeapDOG combines chondroitin and glucosamine in a formula designed to aid healthy joints. It is delivered to the dog via a healthy complementary food comprising oats and other essential vitamins and minerals meaning that it is easily digested and absorbed into your dog’s body.
